Cairns Regional Council strikes new sponsorship deal with NBL's Taipans
The Cairns Taipans have announced that it has secured a two-year sponsorship extension from Cairns Regional Council.
A sponsor of the NBL team since 2010, the Council says it is "proud" to back the only national sporting team representing Cairns, with Cairns Mayor Amy Eden advising that the Taipans hold a special place in the hearts of locals.
Mayor Eden advised “this sponsorship is a slam dunk for the Taipans and the Cairns community.
“The Taipans are more than just a basketball team; they are part of the fabric of Cairns.
“Their presence energises our economy, gives the region a national platform and motivates the next generation of local sports stars.
“We hope to see the Orange Army out in force again when the Taipans hit the court for the 2024/25 season.”
Advising that the sponsorship helps the club continue to inspire fans, drive economic growth and nurture local talent, Cairns Taipans Chief Executive, Mark Beecroft noted "together, we’re not just playing the game; we’re shaping the future of Cairns."
The Taipans play their home games at the Cairns Convention Centre.
