Cairns Convention Centre launches new virtual tour experience
The renewed Cairns Convention Centre has launched a virtual tour experience enabling domestic and international clients to experience the Centre’s new expansion and refurbishment.
The state-of-the-art audio-visual upgrade of the Cairns Convention Centre ensures business events and meeting planners have access to innovative technologies that create immersive experiences to captivate audiences.
Continuing with the technology-first approach, Cairns Convention Centre has developed an interactive, immersive virtual reality experience for domestic and international meeting planners. The virtual reality experience can be viewed through VR goggles, as well as on the Centre’s website.
The virtual reality experience gives planners a realistic view of Cairns Convention Centre and fosters a sense of connection to the wonder of one of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
Cairns Convention Centre General Manager, Janet Hamilton advised the new tool showcases the stunning spaces within the new expansion and highlights the incredible views delegates will experience.
Hamilton shared “we want to showcase our Centre in person to as many clients as possible, but that is not always possible. The interactive virtual tours allow clients to become immersed in the spaces within the Centre by using headsets or jumping onto our website.
“We can use headsets at trade shows or clients can experience the Centre in their own time through the website tool.”
The website platform allows clients to select the spaces they want to explore and move through the Cairns Convention Centre selecting their own path, giving users a complete interactive experience.
The headset video gives an overview of the Centre’s main spaces and the offerings within the region.
The virtual tours were made possible by the support of Tourism Australia via its Business Events Advance Program which partners with industry on activity that aims to increase the number and value of international business events for Australia.
“We are grateful for the support from Tourism Australia on this project, and we look forward to providing more opportunities to showcase Australian business events opportunities and bring more events and delegates to Cairns” added Hamilton.
