Brimbank City Council takes back management of Keilor Public Golf Course
Brimbank City Council has this week resumed management of the Keilor Public Golf Course, shifting the model to in-house management following a successful 10 years of management by Belgravia Leisure.
In December 2021, the Council extended its contract with Belgravia Leisure to manage the facility until 30th May this year, agreeing at the time to investigate different operation models to inform a decision on how to operate the facility beyond this date.
The Council explored a number of operational models to maximise financial and capital return from operations of the course, minimise the risk, ensure the course is accessible to the Brimbank community and ensure high levels of community engagement in course activities and participation.
Commenting on the Council taking on the management of the golf course on 31st May on LinkedIn, Brimbank Leisure Facility Manager, Drew Hildebrandt praised the management of the course over recent years “under their passionate Golf Manager Jack McDonald”.
Hildebrandt noted “transitioning management isn’t always easy and takes a lot of communication and collaboration to do it effectively", adding “I’d like to publicly thank Belgravia Leisure, particularly Jack, for assisting in this seamless transition.”
Hildebrandt also thanked his Brimbank Leisure team “especially Stephen D'Silva and Catherine Antonello … for all your amazing help through the last hectic couple of months”.
He went on to say “we are looking forward to meeting and working with all the golfers, including the members of Keilor Golf Club and spending time with the community in growing the programs and services offered at this wonderful council venue.”
Speaking late last year, Brimbank Mayor, Bruce Lancashire advised “the Keilor Public Golf Course is a very important recreational destination in Brimbank and is much-loved and well-used by the local golfing community.
“We look forward to continuing to provide the community and members with a high quality public golf course that is accessible to anyone in the community wanting to participate.”
