Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope to offer 'ultimate in community leisure'
Stage II developments at the Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope (BLCS) in western Sydney are now well underway.
When complete, the expanded facility will incorporate a variety of first class leisure, recreational and educational facilities and library resources.
Blacktown City Council believe this will offer the 'ultimate in community leisure experiences.'
The major part of the development is the addition of a new branch library, the Dennis Johnson Library. To be integrated with the aquatic, fitness and sport areas of the BLCS will use the Centre's shared foyer/hub area.
The development also includes a new squash court, spinning room, extended fitness space and a social lounge area. A new cafe at the facility is already open.
Explaining the expansion, Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles said that the developments at the Centre form part of the Council's vision for the future, creating a city that current and future generations can be proud of.
Mayor Lowles stated "Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope will soon realise Council's vision of being a 'true' community and leisure centre with facilities for education and exercise side existing side by side."
Construction is scheduled for completion in June/July this year.
