Bangarra appoints new Executive Director
Following on from last year's hugely successful 20th Anniversary tour, Bangarra Dance Theatre has strengthened its position as one of Australia's most successful and innovative dance companies with the appointment of new Executive Director, Catherine Baldwin.
Bringing an exceptional depth of knowledge and experience from the cultural and business sectors, Baldwin has had a long association with Bangarra having first worked with Artistic Director Stephen Page in her role as Executive Director of the Australian Dance Council (NSW) nearly 20 years ago.
Having crossed paths countless times over the years, Baldwin explains "the planets finally aligned" and the opportunity to work together recently presented itself.
As she explains, "my being able to provide leadership and build the resources for this successful creative enterprise as they move into their 21st year is a privilege and the best kind of challenge.
"When I see a Bangarra performance I can't help but feel respect â it builds our understanding for reconciliation."
With a broad history in the arts, corporate and philanthropic sectors, Baldwin has brought a new level of expertise to the Company as they embark on their next era of development.
Having held management roles for a number of innovative dance theatre companies, been responsible for the dance program at the Australia Council and run her own artists management company, along with her recent experience in the corporate sector as Chief Executive of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, Chief Executive of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia and most recently as Head of the Perpetual Foundation developing their philanthropic program, Bangarra Dance Theatre is thrilled with Catherine Baldwinâs appointment.
