Australia's newest rooftop venue revealed at ICC Sydney

With the International Convention Centre Sydney’s (ICC Sydney) set for its official opening in December, its newest space, the Event Deck, has been unveiled this week.

Expected to be a major drawcard to the revamped Darling Harbour precinct, the outdoor event space features a 5,000 metre² open air space and 1,000 metre² outdoor lounge and bar area, creating a unique outdoor space in Sydney.

Able to cater for large-scale events, that will be visible from Tumbalong Park and even parts of the CBD, the Event Deck provides additional flexibility to the venue, opening from the Exhibition Centre, and can be used in a variety of ways, including the erection of large-scale marquee facilities.

Launching the Event Deck this week, NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance stated “this world class outdoor space will be a spectacular place to hold showcase events. It is the size of a football field and has magnificent views of the city skyline and harbour, overlooking Tumbalong Park.

“The Event Deck is pivotal to the revitalisation of Darling Harbour’s exhibition and convention space and provides the facilities and functionality to draw international meetings and business events. It will be a true icon of activation and entertainment in the heart of Sydney.”

ICC Sydney Chief Executive Geoff Donaghy said the deck was yet another feature that allows the venue to stand out from more traditional convention and exhibition centres, adding “the Event Deck is a wonderful extension of the upper exhibition halls, with both exhibition and convention clients already expressing great interest.”
