Australian Tourism Awards to be staged at new Perth Stadium in 2018
The new Perth Stadium will host the Australian tourism industry’s best and brightest as the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards travel west in February 2018.
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, which are the industry’s premier awards program recognising outstanding industry achievement in 25 categories, will be one of the first corporate events held at the new Perth Stadium.
The event is expected to attract more than 800 people from across the country including Federal and State Tourism Ministers, senior executives of state and regional tourism bodies and tourism industry leaders.
Australian Tourism Awards Chairman Daniel explains that the awards had been recognising and celebrating industry excellent for more than 30 years, advising “it is with great pleasure that we return to Perth for the first time since 2011 for the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
“These Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and achievements of tourism businesses from across Australia. It is these businesses who deliver outstanding product and service to visitors and generate growth and jobs for the national economy.”
The Awards are sponsored by long-term supporters Qantas and will be supported locally by the West Australian Government, through Tourism Western Australia.
Australian Tourism Industry Council Chair Evan Hall said the event presented an opportunity to showcase one of Western Australia’s newest pieces of infrastructure to the national tourism industry.
Hall, who also heads Tourism Council of Western Australia, commented “Perth has undergone a magnificent transformation since the Awards were last held in Western Australia, and it is exciting to be able to share this with our industry colleagues.”
Perth Stadium will also be hosting the RAC WA Sports Star Awards in the new venue’s Riverview Rooms on the evening of Thursday 8th February.
WA Sports Federation Board Chairman Michael Beros says the move to Perth Stadium continues the growth of the awards, as the WA Sports Federation marks 20 years of Western Australia’s most prestigious sports awards under its custodianship.
Beros stated “built for all West Australians, Perth Stadium represents an exciting evolution for the RAC WA Sports Star Awards, and we’re very excited about being able to celebrate our wonderful sporting heritage in such a new and iconic WA landmark.”
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards will be held at Perth Stadium on Friday 23rd February 2018.
