Australian Regional Tourism Convention to address role in national tourism agenda
The peak body for regional tourism in Australia, Australian Regional Tourism (ART) has received more than 100 registrations for the annual Australian Regional Tourism Convention, which will be held next Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd of October at Paranaple Convention Centre, Devonport.
The Convention theme is 'Getting ready for the spotlight' - Is regional Australia finally a genuine part of our national tourism agenda, and are we ready?
Looking forward to the event, ART Chair, Coralie Bell stated “the Convention is a fantastic forum in which regional tourism practitioners can exchange ideas, discuss and debate some of the most important issues, challenges and opportunities facing regional tourism."
The three-day event will attract delegates from across the country and feature an exciting line-up of more than 45 speakers including the likes of Tasmanian Premier, Will Hodgman; Federal Assistant Minister for Regional Tourism, Jonathon Duniam; John Hart, Australian Chamber; John Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Tourism Tasmania; and Karen Fitzgerald from Tourism Australia.
Bell added “in addition to regional dispersal and the power of collaborative marketing in region, key presentations include aboriginal tourism, accessible tourism, visitor servicing, business events, accommodation platforms, tourism route and journeys, tourism membership and regional case studies.”
Delegates will experience the best of Cradle Coast as they enjoy field-trips on Monday, prior to the official proceedings commencing on Monday evening with a Welcome Reception at Drift from 6pm. There will be a farewell dinner at Providore Place on Wednesday evening.
The Board of the ART invite local government representatives, regional and state tourism organisations and all sectors of the Australian tourism industry to contribute to the future of regional tourism by participating in the Convention next week.
