2019 Australian Regional Tourism Convention to be staged in Devonport

Australian Regional Tourism has advised that its 2019 Convention will be held from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd October in the Tasmanian city of Devonport.

The decision by the board of Australian Regional Tourism (ART), the Australian Regional Tourism Convention (ARTC) Committee and convention partner, the Tasmanian Department of State Growth will see the 2019 Convention (ARTC19) held from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd October.

Describing the ART convention as “a must-attend event for local councils, regional tourism organisations, tourism professionals and business and government personnel who wish to contribute to the future of regional tourism in Australia, ART Chair. Coralie Bell explained “we are very excited to be working with Cradle Coast Authority to bring the 2019 Australian Regional Tourism Convention to Devonport.

"ARTC19 is a must if you have a stake in regional tourism with robust discussions around topics facing our industry and allowing delegates the opportunity to connect and share ideas.”

With the 2019 Convention theme 'Getting ready for the spotlight - Is regional Australia finally a genuine part of our national tourism agenda, and are we ready?’ already announced, ARTC19 will uncover the big challenges for regions and explore what is required to compete in an increasingly competitive global market.

Looking forward to hosting the event, Daryl Connelly, Chief Executive of the Cradle Coast Authority, explained “we are absolutely delighted that the 2019 Australian Regional Tourism Convention will be held in the Cradle Coast region this year.

“There are so many exciting things going on in our region at the moment from the increase in cruise ship visitation to the Living City project to the Coastal Pathway and so much more, so we know that delegates from around Australia will get a lot out of it.

“Cradle Coast Authority worked hard to secure this for the region, and would like to acknowledge the support of the Tasmanian Government, Business Events Tasmania and Devonport City Council, who will host us at their wonderful new Paranaple Centre.”

Early-bird registrations will open online later this month with a call for papers for presenters being distributed next week.

ART is the peak national body representing regional tourism practitioners. They act as a hub for collaboration, cooperation, ideas generation, knowledge sharing, networking and more.
