Australian Institute of Sport and Health Mates Fitness Centre win top fitness awards
Fitness Centre at the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) in Canberra and the Health Mates Fitness Centre in Revesby, NSW have been rewarded with top national awards for excellence from peak industry group Fitness Australia.
Fitness Centre at the AIS has been awarded the Prize for Excellence for providing high quality service and excellence across its entire business, while the Health Mates Fitness Centre have been awarded the Prize for Advancement of Excellence in recognition for achieving its third Gold Award in a row for significant improvements in service and culture it provides its members.
The Fitness Australia Quality Awards promote and celebrate industry excellence and the work the fitness industry does to help Australians to change their lifestyles and improve their health.
Commenting on the awards, Fitness Australia Chief Executive Lauretta Stace stated “Fitness Centre at the AIS has a comprehensive and robust system in place that deals with its members, staff and environment.
“The Prize for Excellence is the highest accolade that our industry can award to a fitness provider and Fitness Centre at the AIS should be proud of their achievement.
“Fitness Centre at the AIS can truly claim very high standards across every area of their business, most particularly in relation to customer service and in the areas of risk management, safety and environment.”
Fitness Centre at the AIS caters for both Australia’s elite athletes and the general public, offering a variety of services which include a swimming school, a post-operative and trauma recovery program, limited mobility programs, as well as holiday programs for children and group personal training.
Health Mates Fitness Centre’s Prize for Advancement of Excellence was awarded based on the club having previously achieved a Fitness Australia GOLD Award and having gone further in making significant ongoing improvements to its high quality service and culture.
Acknowledging Health Mates Fitness Centre’s constant striving for excellence, Stace added “this is the third consecutive year for Health Mates Fitness Centre to receive a GOLD Award and the Prize for Advancement of Excellence recognises this achievement.
“It is hard to keep lifting the bar when your performance is already exceptional but Health Mates has managed to set ever higher standards.”
Health Mates Fitness Centre provides services in the St George area of suburban Sydney which are enjoyed by a broad range of community members.
They make their members and guests feel comfortable, energised and supported.
This is the third year that Fitness Australia, the industry’s peak body, has run the Quality Awards and this year, 77 fitness businesses across Australia achieved Quality Awards.
Stace concluded “given more than 60% of Australian adults are overweight or obese and with the accompanying increase this brings in disease and chronic conditions, we have a vital role to play in the health of our community.
“But with this role comes the responsibility of providing high quality programs and striving for continuous improvement, that’s what these awards recognise.”
