Australian Innovative Systems' technology to treat water at Philippines' Azure Beach lagoon
Innovative water treatment technology from Australian Innovative Systems' (AISystems) has been chosen for The Philippines' first urban man-made beach at the multi-million dollar resort near Manila.
AIS’ AutoChlor technology will be keeping over 2.5million litres of water sparkling clean and safe for swimmers at the 3,500 metre2 manmade beachfront lagoon, Azure Beach. The lagoon is part of the six hectare, multi-million, luxury master planned residential development, Azure Urban Resort Residences located in the resort enclave of Paranaque City, 16 kilometres south of Manila.
Developed by Philippine based Century Properties Group, Azure Urban Resort Residences will eventually house nine residential towers and has at its centrepiece the man-made beach facility complete with sandy beach, waterfalls, a beach cove, lap pool, children's water slide and a three-level ‘Paris Beach Club' designed by none other than celebrity heiress Paris Hilton. The resort's focus is to promote recreation, health and wellbeing as part of the luxurious, modern master planned community.
The multi-award winning, Australian designed and manufactured, AutoChlor inline disinfection system was specified and installed by leading Philippine based pool and spa company, Chemsphere Corporation of Quezon City. Chemsphere, with over 30 years' experience in the pool and spa industry has enjoyed a long-standing association with Brisbane-based, AISystems.
Owner of Chemsphere, Rogelio Heredero said that his company's decision to nominate AIS' commercial technology for the project was a natural choice, explains “our company is a leader in its field and so is AIS. The Azure project is a signature project for the Philippines.
“Given the prestigious nature and scale of this development it was vital that we chose an effective, reliable and easy to operate water hygiene system with a proven track record of operating in other large scale resort projects.
“The water features at Azure Beach are integral to the overall design of the resort and so it is imperative that the water remains crystal clear, safe and enjoyable for swimmers at all times.
Heredero said that he also appreciated AISystems' level of customer service, adding “we were very happy that AIS flew one of its engineers over from Australia to help supervise the installation of the AutoChlor unit and ensure our client was 100% satisfied.
“This is the first AIS commercial unit we have specified in the Philippines and it certainly won't be the last.”
In discussing AutoChlor's suitability for the project, AISystems Chief Executive Elena Gosse said that the inline chlorinator eliminated the expense, inconvenience and chemical supplier dependence associated with the alternative, outdated option of purchasing, transporting, storing and handling chemicals onsite.
Gosse stated “the AutoChlor inline chlorination system is a simple and automatic process.
“For the end user this translates to minimal staff input, lower operational costs and a reduced chance of workplace accidents involving chlorine or other chemicals."
While AISystems has exported its products to over 55 countries worldwide, Gosse said that she was honoured to be involved in such a prominent project as Azure.
Gosse explained “as the creators of Azure Urban Resort Residences, Century Properties has enjoyed over 25 years of developing and marketing luxury real estate and is one of the top five real estate firms in the Philippines. Chemsphere Corporation is recognised as an outstanding leader in the Philippine pool and spa industry with over 30 years of experience.
“These innovative companies have recognised our own innovative approach to water disinfection.
“Our AutoChlor salt water chlorine generators boast many features including the unique capability of reversed polarity, which significantly reduces the maintenance requirements for pools with a salinity range of 2,000-360,000 milligrams per litre.
“The benefit of this embedded technology allows the unit to self-clean, enabling the polarity of electrodes to be reversed periodically to de-scale Calcium build up. The sealed unit features a built-in acid wash system with active cooling system and the water chlorination system disinfects the pool without the need for additional chemicals.”
Gosse said that as well as featuring in a number of major waterpark and aquatic centres in Australia, AISystems' technology was in use in a number of international leisure projects including a major Indonesian water park, (Waterbom Bali) and in the Middle East (in the lagoon pools of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai and Al Forsan International Sports Resort Lakes, Abu Dhabi).
She concluded “AIS technology is the way of the future for water treatment in the leisure industry and I am delighted that Century Properties Group and Chemsphere Corporation have chosen AIS to be a part of their future.”
