Australian Grand Prix Corporation extends key contract with APP Corporation
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) has extended its contract with APP Corporation to continue the provision of engineering project management services for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix events into the 2015 season.
APP is well underway with the engineering project management of this year's transformation and restoration of Albert Park from public parkland into an internationally renowned motorsport venue.
Announcing the extension, AGPC Chief Executive Andrew Westacott stated "APP Corporation has been instrumental in the delivery of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix over the last three years.
"Their commitment to the project at every level of the company has been exemplary. We put a great level of trust with APP to transform Albert Park for the event so we can showcase Melbourne to the world."
APP Corporation Chief Executive Ian Maxted was delighted with the three year extension and attributes the success of the partnership to the expertise and dedication of the APP team.
Maxted explained "APP has worked on many landmark projects around Australia including many major international events, and our team of professionals working on the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix will deliver one of the most complex annual event overlays in the world. Their dedication and ability to work closely with the team at the AGPC, and other key stakeholders is a testament to this ongoing relationship with AGPC."
APP's work involves extensive consultation with a diversity of stakeholders, as well as the management and coordination of various event overlay activities such as; public interface, permanent and temporary facilities delivery, world media, regulatory bodies, sporting organisations as well as the occupational health, safety and environment requirements. APP is a professional services consultancy and a specialist in this arena; having managed the overlay for many major events such as the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, the temporary exhibition facility at Glebe Island in Sydney, and the Royal Randwick Racecourse.
