Australia Zoo goes ‘carnival’ for the release of Rio 2

Home to beautiful blue and gold macaws from South America, Australia Zoo will mark the release of the movie Rio 2 this Saturday (4th October) with a colourful, carnival party.

Just like the plot of Rio 2 where main characters Nico and Pedro join blue macaws Blu and Jewel on an amazing adventure, Australia Zoo also wants to take guests on an exciting journey.

On arrival, guests will be greeted by Samba dancers and Latino music before having the chance to meet roving blue and gold macaws (pictured below) as well as Nico and Pedro costume characters.

Australia Zoo’s blue and gold macaws Queto and Bubbles are very friendly and visitors to Australia Zoo can chat to roving zoo keepers as they introduce them to Queto and Bubbles at admissions, as well as plenty of other wildlife.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to have Australia Zoo’s talented team work their magic with some Rio 2 themed face painting, before heading to the Crocoseum to have a dance with the amazing 'Tropicalia' at 11:30am.

Appearing as a headline act at the original Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, these samba dancers, along with the soundtrack of the Eddie Gazani Trio, are sure to get the Australia Zoo jungle party started.

Straight after the midday Wildlife Warriors show, Australia Zoo will be holding a special screening of Rio 2 in the Crocoseum auditorium. Families can enjoy relaxing to this movie after an action-packed day of Brazilian-themed entertainment and Australia Zoo’s world-famous wildlife.

With all the vibrant Rio 2-themed fun happening on Saturday, Australia Zoo is thrilled this will also be the day they hold their first Instameet. Australia Zoo is joining Tourism and Events Queensland in a tourism initiative to promote the Queensland, encouraging guests to share their snaps on the day. By simply uploading their images of Australia Zoo on Instagram between 10am and 5pm on 4th October nd tagging both #thisisqueensland and #australiazoo, they could win a $1,000 travel voucher for Queensland, as well as one of three family passes to Australia Zoo.

RIO 2 will be available on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital HD from 1st October.
