Australia to celebrate International Pilates Day

In an initiative fostered by international body the Pilates Method Alliance, Pilates Day will be celebrated on Saturday 3rd May 2014.

Celebrated annually on the first Saturday in May, International Pilates Day is a day that encourages Pilates organisations across the globe to join together in sharing Pilates with the wider community and celebrating the genius and benefits of the method developed by Joseph Pilates.

This year will see Pilates Day celebrated in Australia with a variety of free and fun events in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and a special celebratory free Matwork class at Reconciliation Place in Canberra.

Key studios in all cities will have special and free events planned, designed to give novices a taste of what Pilates is all about, and for those who regularly attend Pilates already, special classes will be on offer.

In Canberra, the free Matwork class will be held at 8am at Reconciliation Place on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, between Questacon and the High Court. With a backdrop against old and new Parliament Houses and looking up to the War Memorial, the event is anticipated to be an inspiring, fun way to start your day and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of the Pilates method.

Teachers from PilatesITC and Pilates Canberra studio will be on hand to help and to chat about the many benefits of the discipline, and there will be giveaways and information packages for participants to take away.
