Tourism WA secures five high-profile hockey events

Tourism WA has secured five high-profile hockey events - to be played at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University and at some of the best hockey venues in Western Australia - and anticipated to attract a combined total of more than 4,500 out-of-state visitors and more than $11 million from 2022-2025.

Supported by Tourism WA, all of the events will be delivered by Hockey Australia with support from Hockey WA.

The competitions include the Australian Under 21 Championships (2022), the Australian Masters Men’s and Women’s Championships (2023), International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League (2024), Australian Under 13 Championships (2024) and the Australian Under 18 Championships (2025).

The FIH Pro League matches will feature Australia’s flagship men’s and women’s teams, the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos, taking on some of the world’s best international teams.

Tourism WA Acting Managing Director Derryn Belford said securing these mass participation events was an important part of securing an exciting events calendar for the future.

Belford notes “not only is some of the world’s top hockey talent set to come to WA as part of the FIH Pro League matches, together these five events are expected to attract thousands of visitors and more millions of dollars for the economy.

“This will be great news for businesses and also showcase our State and our sporting facilities to interstate and international audiences.”
