Auckland Fitness Club turns 29!

Auckland's Club Physical has just celebrated its 29th birthday.

Last year, privately operated Club Physical extended the benefits of exercise beyond its walls by giving nearly $40,000 to charities. This included Women's Refuge, World Vision, and LIFE World Reach. In addition, the group sponsors a large number of sports-teams and fundraising events around the community.

Club Physical founder and Chief Executive, Paul Richards explains "since I first realised the amazing rejuvating sense you gain from a gym workout, I've been driven by the passion to share it!

"Many of our adult members were young kids their mothers placed in the playroom when we started. These days the team and I are excited about going a step further to reach out and help others".

One such segment of the community are people with cancer. For the last five years Club Physical has offered a free ten week membership and supervised programme for those who have or are recovering from cancer. The Cancer Wellfit programme now also allows a friend to attend free as additional support.

The CP group also has become well-known for its twelve week Transformation Programme, being first to offer such in New Zealand in 1991. This has since changed the lives of hundreds of locals, teaching better lifestyle habits, increasing fitness levels and reducing waistlines and blood pressure significantly.

With 11,000 member in its 'tribe' and a team of 300 professionals Club Physical now has 10 franchises in Auckland and one in Kaitaia.
