ASSA launch new water safety campaign
The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) and ASSA water safety committee have announced an exciting new water safety initiative – ‘Count Down to Summer Series’.
Replacing this year’s SAFER Swimming week, the water safety campaign ‘Count Down to Summer Series’ aims to share vital water safety messaging year-round and incorporate ASSA’s SAFERwater Warriors.
The SAFERwater Warriors was released during last year’s Australian Swim Schools Conference in Cairns and was created by ASSA’s Water Safety Committee. ASSA will continue to use these characters to help share important water safety messaging.
Each SAFERwater Warrior has a vital message attached to them and is designed as a fun approach to spreading vital Water Safety messages through ASSA swim schools:
Swimming Skills - GLIDE
Adult Supervision - SKYE
Fences and Gates - FORCE
Emergency Action Plan - DASH
An ASSA Water Safety Committee Convenor advised that “the ASSA Water Safety Team are excited to join the SAFER WaterWarriors to launch the 2020 Countdown to Summer.
“After a long cold winter and a big COVID break, the SAFER WaterWarriors call everyone to action - help us get the layers of protection in place to keep kids SAFER as the weather warms up. Bring on Summer!”
All ASSA member swim schools will be receiving a series of infographics and colouring collateral over the coming weeks to share with their families to help (re)gain clients through Glide's messaging – the importance of swimming skills, particularly after a long break as well as to promote other water safety messages.
These graphics can be used through social media and other channels and can be co-branded with swim schools’ logos.
An official date for the 2021 SAFER Swimming Week will be announced in the coming months.
