Aspley Rugby League Football Club welcomes completion of refurbishment project

The Aspley Rugby League Football Club, located in Brisbane’s north, has welcomed the completion of a refurbishment project valued at over $2.5 million, with the Australian Government contributing $1 million towards the project, and Aspley Rugby League Football Club contributing the remaining $1,561,871.

The project relocated the goal posts and constructed a new amenities block, which includes four new change rooms equipped with physio beds, a first aid room, storage room, referees change room, a media stand, seating area and a members’ toilet block.

The new amenities block will enable the Aspley Rugby League Football Club to better generate income that allows them to further support investment in the local rugby league community, to ensure that financial capacity does not present a barrier to the region’s participation in football.

Federal Minister for Sport Anika Wells noted “The Aspley Devils club has a long history of fostering rugby league talent on Brisbane’s Northside and I’m so pleased our government has delivered this funding to support young Australians from playground to podium.

“This investment will better support kids who want to just have fun with mates as well as those who dream of running out in Maroon at Suncorp Stadium.”

Aspley Rugby League Club President, Stephen Buckley enthused “we are thrilled to receive this generous $1 million grant from the Australian government, which has enabled us to build new, inclusive, and universal changeroom facilities.

“This funding is a game-changer for our club, supporting the remarkable 45% growth in female participation and benefiting over 800 male and female players, staff, and volunteers, as well as the wider community, including local schools, sporting, community and representative groups.

“This investment underscores our commitment to fostering a welcoming and equitable environment for everyone involved in rugby league at our club and beyond.

“This grant ensures that our Club’s objectives of wanting to promote, foster, support and encourage Rugby League Football in our community will continue for our future generations to come, in an inclusive and positive environment. We could not be more grateful.”
