ASCTA to present Coaching and Learn to Swim Conferences in four states
The Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association is to stage regional conferences in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney in the next two months.
Each of the events will enable participants to sign up for a Bronze Coaching Accreditation Course and to attend a full day seminar on learn to swim and coaching where delegates will be able to learn from some of the best and most experienced professionals in Australia.
Commenting on the events, Haydn Belshaw, General Manager and Director of Aquabliss Management; asctaNSW Director and organiser of the Sydney conference, explains “one of the only skills more important than learning to swim is learning to teach to swim - and there is no better time than the lead up to summer to do just that.”
Course presenters at the Sydney conference include Olympic Coach, Grant Stoelwinder, Gary Toner (General Manger of Swim Australia), Susie McKeon from the McKeon Swim School, Amanda Isaac, Kim McDonald (from TAFE NSW), as well as Misha Payne and Michelle Thomas from Carlile Swimming.
The conference schedules are:
asctaSA Conference - Adelaide, 20th and 21st August
asctaNSW Conference - Sydney, 10th and 11th September
asctaQLD Conference - Brisbane, 10th and 11th September
asctaWA Conference - Perth, 8th and 9th October
The Sydney conference is being held at Pymble Ladies College on 11th September with the Bronze Coaching Accreditation Course (run on the day prior at Knox Grammar School).
Looking forward to the event, Belshaw adds “Sydney’s population has just hit the five million mark, and with no signs of growth slowing anytime soon, there is a demand for qualified coaches and learn to swim teachers state-wide.”
The conferences are an opportunity for those already working in the industry to learn from others, meet like-minded professionals and exchange and share ideas and experiences.
For those just starting out as a swimming teacher or coach, the conferences offers invaluable advice, support and encouragement to develop your skills and give you a strong start for the upcoming summer season.
