ARV and AIPT announce strategic alliance

Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) and the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers have announced a strategic alliance that aims to get more people, more active, more often.

As part of the partnership, ARV and the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers will be offering one Personal Training scholarship to the indigenous community in Victoria in 2013.

Valued at over $5,000, the scholarship will provide the recipient with free tuition in a Certificate IV in fitness, enabling them to launch their career in the fitness industry, specifically personal training.

This initiative will both provide the recipient with a valuable qualification and career and also promote health and fitness in the local Indigenous community and also provide a career path and employment outcomes for the successful applicant.

Explaining the alliance, said ARV Chief Executive Ian Swan stated "the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers is one of Australia's largest providers of Personal Trainer education and Fitness Industry courses, and we are delighted to be working together to improve recreation opportunities for and on behalf of the community.

"Victorians are constantly reminded of the need to exercise and be active to reduce the incidence of health related issues. Our partnership with the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers will greatly enhance the ongoing development of education programs and participation pathways in the recreation sector, which is a critical outcome to both organisations and the community going forward."

Australian Institute of Personal Trainers Chief Executive Kylie Fahey added "in an industry that is growing rapidly, the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers has evolved as a leading provider of fitness training courses and fitness industry education. We are committed to raising standards and improving the profile of Personal Training in Australia, and with the collaborative support of ARV as an industry leader, we can address both health and educational outcomes for the community."
