Appointments announced for Music Australia Council

Chief Executive of soon to be Creative Australia and chairperson of the Music Australia Council, Adrian Collette has welcomed the appointments announced today by the Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke to the Music Australia Council.

Collette advised “Music Australia will support and promote the Australian contemporary music industry to increase discoverability and develop markets and audiences. It will invest to stimulate a vibrant and sustainable music industry ecosystem in which artists can thrive.

“I am honoured to be chairing the Music Australia Council, which brings together an incredibly experienced and diverse group of artists and industry professionals, who are acutely aware of the ongoing disruptions and challenges across the industry. They will provide expert advice as we build the Music Australia strategy from supporting grass roots talent to building local and international opportunities.”

These appointments take effect on Thursday 24th August 2023.

The appointments are:

  • Nathan McLay

  • Fred Alale AM

  • Lisa Baker

  • Fred Leone

  • Danielle Caruana

  • Petrina Convey

Music Australia, an initiative of the Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy: Revive, is being established within Creative Australia. The Music Australia Council will provide strategic advice and recommendations regarding the priority investment, development, and research needs of the contemporary music industry in Australia.
