Applications now open for Western Australia Bike Month grants
Western Australian schools, local governments and community organisations can now apply for funds to support WA Bike Month activities.
For the second year running, the State Government has partnered with the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia (RAC) to offer $75,000 in funding towards WA Bike Month grants.
Celebrations take place in October each year and aim to encourage people of all ages and abilities to give bike riding a go for fun, transport and a healthier lifestyle.
Minor, local and major grants are available, ranging from $500 to $7,000.
Last year, 65 events were held across the State with more than 7,500 attendees who enjoyed bike maintenance and safety skills activities, guided and group rides, pump track activities, blender bikes, ride to school and work breakfasts, and much more.
This grants program is a key initiative that provides schools and local organisations an opportunity to celebrate bike riding and discover local riding networks and community amenity.
WA Bike Month is a Department of Transport initiative, supported by RAC and administered by Western Australia's peak body for cycling, WestCycle.
Since 2017, the WA Government has invested more than $300 million to deliver more than 240 km of walking and riding routes, including around 103 km of principal shared paths (PSP), which form part of the primary network. A further $310 million is committed over the next four years to develop an additional 221 km of walking and riding infrastructure, including about 101 km of PSP.
Applications close at 5.00 pm on Sunday 30th June 2024.
