Anytime Fitness member rides over 1600 km in one month on the Expresso Interactive Bike
Jason Baker a member of Anytime Fitness from Salisbury Downs in South Australia rode over 1600 kilometres during November, riding The Fitness Generation's Expresso Interactive Bikes.
This remarkable accomplishment sees Jason acknowledged as the top global rider of an Expresso bike and also saw him burn 41,212 calories and lose over 9kg in weight.
Jason had been overweight for the last 15 years and after several operations on his feet it had started to be too painful to play any form of sport.
Although he had been a member of Anytime Fitness for over a year Jason had never really made full use of his membership. However, having noticed the Expresso Interactive Bikes at the gym, but not having used them, on 17th September he decided to start a program.
Recommended to try the bikes by Gym Manager Dylan Kent, whose advice was that the bikes will work you hard and keep track of everything you do, Jason also learned of the competitions that Expresso run so that he could be rewarded for his efforts.
As a result, Jason hoped on the bike he was amazed how enjoyable the ride was.
He explains "the Expresso bike was so different and I loved being able to look at Watt, RPM, Speed, Calories, Heart Rate all on one screen, at the same time.
"It was (also) very quick with the gear changes (and) I love how you can track everything online."
Jason added "as I have issues with my feet when I use too much pressure they can start to hurt as soon as I change gear and some bikes I have used in the past I have had to stop peddling."
Not encountering such problems with the Expresso Interactive Bike, Jason was hooked and disappointed that he had't got on the before.
With Type 2 Diabetes and being overweight, Jason had health issues for so long he couldn't remember what it was like to just have a healthy life. His cholesterol was very high, his Triglyceride levels were the highest the doctors have ever seen in someone his age, and his blood sugar was slowly killing him.
So he started his journey on the 17th September at a weight of 124.9kg. After 10 weeks he weighed 98.1kg with another three weeks left on his self-created program.
Jason has been congratulated for his achievement by the teams at The Fitness Generation, Anytime Fitness, and Expresso Interactive Bikes and is now motivated to achieve even more.
