Allan McKinnon joins YMCA NSW as General Manager of Recreation
Following an industry-wide search, YMCA NSW has announced that Allan McKinnon will head-up its aquatic, fitness, recreation and wellness operations in the role of General Manager of Recreation
McKinnon brings an exceptional background in the sport and recreation industry to the YMCA, with roles including National Manager League Bowling with AMF Bowling and various senior management positions with the Australian Football League in NSW and ACT.
Commenting on McKinnon's appointment, YMCA NSW interim Chief Executive Stephen Bendle states “Allan has a combination of experience in commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors.
"He has a strong background in developing visionary strategies and innovative programs to achieve growth and sustainability.
“The health and fitness industry is a busy market, crushed by 24 hour offers, but we believe that with Allan’s exceptional industry experience and our difference as a not-for-profit provider with a community-centric focus, the YMCA will emerge as a real competitor in the leisure and recreation space over the next five years.”
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Leisa Hart to the role of Chief Executive of YMCA NSW.
As of December, Hart will replace Stephen Bendle, who has held the role in an interim capacity since July this year.
YMCA NSW is a community focused not-for-profit organisation operating over 45 pools, gyms and leisure centres across the state. The YMCA partners with more than 40 local councils across the state to manage local leisure facilities, including Cook+ Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre with the City of Sydney, Gungahlin Leisure Centre with the ACT Government and the recently opened Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre with Ku-ring-gai Council.
