Aligned Leisure commences management of Bass Coast Shire's aquatic and recreation facilities

By Nigel Benton

Aligned Leisure has commenced operations of Bass Coast Shire Council’s aquatic and recreation facilities.

The Council has advised that its Bass Coast Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Phillip Island Leisure Centre and the Cowes Outdoor Pool have all transitioned smoothly to the new operator from 1st July.

Advising that the transition was a success thanks to the strong collaboration between Council, outgoing operator YMCA Victoria, and the incoming Aligned Leisure team, Bass Coast Shire Chief Executive, Greg Box stated "we’ve worked closely with both YMCA Victoria and Aligned Leisure to make sure the handover was as smooth as possible.

“Aligned Leisure have hit the ground running and are already engaging with staff, members and the community.

Looking forward to the new opportunity, Aligned Leisure Chief Executive, Ben Tudhope stated "it’s important to us that our leisure facilities continue to be places where everyone feels welcome, supported and encouraged to live active, healthy lives.

“We’re excited to be joining the Bass Coast community and building on the great work already happening across these centres.

“Our focus is on delivering a welcoming and inclusive experience for all, supporting the local community, and creating even more opportunities for people to stay active and connected.”

The Council also acknowledged YMCA Victoria for its many years of dedicated service to the community.

The Bass Coast Shire is currently considering the construction of two multi-million dollar aquatic centres at Cowes and Wonthaggi.
