ALFA Joins With Australasian Leisure Management

The recently established Australian Leisure Facilities Association (ALFA) is to adopt Australasian Leisure Management magazine as its official publication.

The agreement between the new industry association and the magazine's publishers will see all ALFA members receive Australasian Leisure Management magazine, six times each year, as a membership benefit.

ALFA members will also receive a monthly e-newsletter and a standalone ALFA specific newsletter with each mailing of Australasian Leisure Management magazine.

Explains ALFA Chairman Gary Penfold "while the previous Aquatic and Recreation magazine served the aquatics industry well, it did not have the circulation for advertisers to support it, and it was becoming problematic to get sufficient editorial contributions.

"This partnership with ALM will provide an exciting and sustainable opportunity for the industry at all levels, both industry professionals and suppliers. ALFA members will receive a quality magazine covering a broad range of leisure issues with an ALFA insert that addresses the aquatic and recreation facility management issues relevant to our membership.

Australasian Leisure Management Publisher Nigel Benton explains "the formation of ALFA is significant as the managers of aquatic, leisure and recreation facilities need a national industry association to represent their interests and to develop this industry.

"ALFA linking with Australasian Leisure Management is a natural fit", adds Benton, "by linking with our magazine and industry information resources, ALFA can be confident that their members are getting access to the best industry information, giving ALFA the opportunity to focus on its many other professional and membership activities."

ALFA Commercial Members will also be able to get discounts on their advertising in Australasian Leisure Management.

ALFA is the peak, representative body for the aquatics, recreation and leisure facilities industry in Australia. It is a newly established organisation, formed out of a strong industry need for a national organisation to represent its interests.

With a vision to 'raise the quality, increase usage and improve the customer experience relating to aquatic, recreation and leisure facilities in Australia', ALFA represents individual employees, organisations that own, manage or lease facilities and companies that supply to the industry.

To achieve this vision, ALFA focuses on advocacy for key industry issues, providing leadership on industry policies and standards, ensuring relevant professional development opportunities, sharing latest industry trends and knowledge through strong network and membership communications.

The first ALFA e-newsletter was emailed to ALFA members and industry stakeholders yesterday.
