Albert Park ready for sold-out Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix

Fans are reported to be ready to flock to Melbourne’s Albert Park this weekend for the most eagerly anticipated Australian Grand Prix’s ever – being held for the first time since 2019.

With the 2021 and 2022 races cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic, demand for the 2022 race has prompted the building of new grandstands and the expansion of others, with an additional 10,000 seats, boosting seating to around 39,000 across 17 grandstands.

Tickets to Saturday and Sunday of the event have been fully exhausted, with race day tickets selling out some six weeks prior to the event.

Although there will be capped attendances due to labour shortages, meaning the event won't top the numbers seen in 1996 when 154,000 fans were on hand, Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chief Executive, Andrew Westacott commented “it's not only a sell-out on Sunday but we've had to sadly announce Saturday has sold out as well, which will hopefully push demand to Friday.

“We expect that we’re going to have the biggest or one of the biggest aggregate crowds in the history of the event.
