AFL and NRL compete on pricing for Final tickets
With the finals series for both the AFL and NRL starting this weekend, both codes have emphasised their commitment to fans by not raising prices for precious finals tickets.
Earlier in the AFL season the governing body announced a freeze on ticket prices for this year's grand final ticket prices – maintaining the 2013 rate of $180 for the cheapest adult reserved seat.
The NRL unveiled considerably reduced finals tickets earlier this year, with a $45 early bird special for club members for the match on 4th October at Sydney's ANZ Stadium - a quarter of the price of the cheapest adult ticket for the AFL grand final, which will be played at the MCG on 3rd October.
The NRL's new, and cheaper, grand final tickets pre-sale price for the general public was $65, while pre-purchased tickets for other finals series games start from as little as $20 for the general public.
ANZ Stadium has joined the $5 pie and soft drink deal for the first weekend of the NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series.
As part of venues moving to deliver good value F&B, fans attending NRL finals matches at ANZ Stadium will also be able to enjoy a $5 pie and soft drink.
Commenting on this initiative, NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg explained “this is a big win for fans (and) I would encourage everyone to get along a finals games and take advantage of these offers and enjoy a great game of rugby league.
“Finals footy is some of the best rugby league action all year (and with) pre-purchased tickets starting at $20 for the general public, it makes it a very affordable outing for families."
At ANZ Stadium, the $5 pie and soft drink deal will be available at the food outlets inside the ground before and during the game.
ANZ Stadium General Manager Event & Business Development Greg Sleigh added “we are constantly working toward improving the fan experience – food and beverage deals, integrated transport, Wi-Fi and connected stadium innovations will all heighten the enjoyment of the Finals series for the fans.”
