AEG Ogden to give preference to VMA members in future recruitment
AEG Ogden, whose local directors supported the initial establishment of the Venue Management Association (VMA) in Australia, have announced that they will give preference to VMA members in future recruitment.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 2012 Venue Industry Congress on the Gold Coast this week, AEG Ogden Chairman and Chief Executive Harvey Lister stated that VMA membership offered a significant advantage to employers within the industry.
Lister went on to state "its important that as a major industry employer, AEG Ogden sets the example by recognising the importance of membership.
"We will still select the best person who offers the best fit for our organisation.
"But in all future employment advertising and as part of the assessment process, preference will be given to VMA members. This will be adopted as corporate policy from this point on."
The VMA website will remain the Group's initial point of placement for recruitment advertising.
Lister recalled that he and AEG Ogden Co-Director, Rod Pilbeam had been strong supporters of the VMA since its inception and encouraged other employers within the industry, large and small, to adopt a similar commitment to recognize potential employees who are Association members.
