AEG Ogden launches new division to optimise venue growth

AEG Ogden has announced the formation of a new division aimed at increasing the commercial revenue from the venues it manages and to enhance the level of services it can provide to the venue owners and hirers.

Chairman and Chief Executive, Harvey Lister (pictured) said that AEG Ogden recognised the importance of maintaining its entrepreneurial approach to venue management and would now be providing an increased level of services in marketing and sponsorship opportunities through its new Global Partnerships division.

Lister announced that James Irvine, an internationally experienced sponsorship and sales executive, will head the new division as Director, AEG Ogden Global Partnerships for the Asia Pacific region

Irvine commenced his role this week, based out of AEG Ogden's corporate office in Sydney.

Sydney-native Irvine returns to his home city after an impressive international career having been Corporate Sales Manager at Wembley Stadium in London before working in conjunction with AEG in the marketing and sales of VIP Club memberships at the world's number one entertainment venue, The 02 Arena in London.

Most recently, Irvine was Head of Sales for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Lister said AEG Ogden and its "Family of Facilities" would benefit greatly from someone of Irvine's experience, stating "James will lead our company's growth in selling naming rights and sponsorships, signage, supplier rights, corporate hospitality and other premium products. This in turn will enable the company to provide further measurable points of difference for our venue owners through the AEG Ogden management solution.

"Its important that we also look to value-add for the promoters and hirers of our venues and to that extent James will work closely with the respective venue management teams to identify potential opportunities."

Irvine will work closely with the Los Angeles based AEG Global Partnerships team which is responsible for almost $400 million worth of revenue annually across AEG facilities worldwide.

Irvine said he knew the AEG culture well having worked closely with the company in recent years, adding "I am excited to join one of the world's leading venue management companies. AEG Ogden's reputation for setting the benchmark in the entertainment industry in this part of the world is well recognised and I look forward to working with all of the venues across the Asia Pacific region to take that to another level again."
