Adventure World set for bumper holiday season
Perth theme park Adventure World is getting set for a bumper summer season, with a new project on the cards and record guest numbers expected through the gates.
The park's newest attraction, the $12 million white-knuckle roller coaster Abyss, has already put Adventure World on the world theme park stage, thrilling roller coaster enthusiasts from around the globe.
Abyss has gained worldwide exposure, with bloggers, journalists, theme park enthusiasts, tourists and industry experts from the USA, United Kingdom and Germany among those heaping praise on Western Australia's latest and most thrilling attraction.
Since opening on 31st October, Abyss has already attracted big numbers of park-goers and hosted over 30,000 riders winning international acclaim, including high praise from Edwin Dickinson, founder of the Australian Coaster Club.
Dickinson recently wrote "Abyss is a wonderful roller coaster and I believe it surpasses Superman as Australia's best roller coaster and rates well with most roller coasters around the world."
Local MP Joe Francis has described the world-class coaster as "an amazing piece of mechanical engineering" while Today Tonight journalist Natalie Bonjolo said "it was unbelievable!, I never screamed so loud in my life!"
Now Perth's favourite summer destination is working on an exciting new project for the site of its signature castle, which was damaged by fire in early November.
Adventure World Chief Executive Mark Shaw said "not only had it been business as usual since the fire, but also plans were already afoot to bring another attraction to the park to replace the castle.
"After the incredible success of Abyss we want to keep up the momentum taking the theme park to a whole new level.
"We are currently working on several ideas for the castle site so watch this space!"
Shaw adds that Adventure World is gearing up for a sizzling summer, with attendance during the first weeks of the season unaffected by the fire.
