Adelaide Oval to launch in-stadium golf experience

Australian Golf Digest has teamed up with Adelaide Oval to launch a nine-hole golf course at the famous venue.

Following the lead set by Auckland’s Eden Park with its ASB G9’s event, the Adelaide Oval will install a temporary mini-golf course between 29th October to 4th November that will players the chance to experience the venue like never before.

As described in a promotial email “teeing off from unique locations around the stadium, including level 5 of the Riverbank Stand, the northern mound at the base of the famous Moreton Bay fig trees and a purpose-built platform in the front of the heritage scoreboard, this bespoke nine-hole stadium golf course is sure to become a must play course for every golfer in the country.

“Play will commence with a shotgun start each day at 7am and continue throughout the day until the final tee time of 8.30pm. For the nine stadium holes, players will have two shots per hole aiming at the greens located on the Oval with the ultimate goal of a hole in one.”

The attraction will also feature a Clubhouse putting hole and longest drive simulator competition will also form part of the experience, which will be made available to the public and corporate groups.

Introducing the concept, Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority General Manager of Operations and Commercial, Darren Chandler stated “we are very excited to be the first stadium in Australia to transform the venue into a golf course.

“It’s a concept that will allow keen golfers the chance to enjoy an unforgettable golf experience in Adelaide Oval’s truly unique setting. We’re always looking for innovative and exciting events to bring to Adelaide Oval and this is one we believe will have significant appeal.”

Teams of four will be guided around the course with a caddie. Players will not access the playing surface at any time and scoring will be based on distance from the pin.

Australian Golf Digest Managing Director, Nick Cutler added “Adelaide Oval is one of the world’s most picturesque stadiums and we’re thrilled to be partnering with this iconic venue for Australia’s first stadium golf event.

“With a custom-designed nine-hole golf course, nine-hole mini-golf course and Clubhouse putt, Adelaide Oval Stadium Golf really will provide a fantastic day out. If you’re interested in a golfing experience unlike anything you’ve had before, this event is for you.”
