Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance's Professional Development Workshops reach out to industry

The Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance (AQIA), the service delivery arm of the peak bodies for active recreation, fitness and sport in Queensland, will, as of tomorrow, be staging a series of workshops across the state.

Commencing in Mackay, AQIA's series of Industry Professional Development Workshops will be staged in 15 locations, with each 2 and 1/2 hour event covering topics including: grants and funding advice; business planning and sponsorship whiel also offering networking opportunities.

The events are being held with the following schedule:

12th May - Mackay
17th May - Fraser Coast
18th May - Bundaberg
7th June - Ipswich
15th June - Moreton Bay (rescheduled)
15th June - Brisbane North
16th June - Redlands
13th July - Logan
19th July - Cairns
20th July - Townsville
26th July - Yeppoon
27th July - Gladstone
2nd August - Sunshine Coast
16th August - Brisbane East
17th August - Brisbane West

AQIA provides assistance and services to the fitness, sport and recreation industry in Queensland on behalf of the sector’s peak bodies - Fitness Australia, QSport and the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation.

AQIA advises that it exists "to make it easier for community-level organisations and clubs to operate in their local communities and to support their workforce (paid or volunteer), because a strong an vibrant fitness, sport and recreation industry is important for Queenslanders’ health, quality of life and social connections."

Originally formed in 1993 as the Queensland Fitness, Sport and Recreation Training Council to be the voice of the industry in relation to the skills and training needs and other workforce development issues, in 2019 the Council expanded to provide direct services to grassroots organisations and clubs, as well as online event management, webinars and e-Learning opportunities.

AQIA also provides:

• Free one-on-one advice on how to apply for and win grants.
• Free access to club management templates and tools, fact sheets and videos.
• Free initial consultation with a legal consultant.
• Free initial consultation with a HR expert for advice on staffing and volunteer matters.
• $750 subsidy towards an intensive Strategic and Business Planning process.
