Active Moreland website launch aims to get more people more active more often

Offering locals the opportunity to swim at one of the six Active Moreland aquatic centres, a hit of tennis at one of many local courts, a walk in the parks or a game of football on an artificial turf pitch, Moreland City Council provides a range of opportunities for residents to get active.

To inform the Moreland community about these opportunities, the new Active Moreland website encourages people to see the benefits of participation and living an active lifestyle. The easy-to-use website is also an education tool with information about sport and physical activity that has been designed to be user-friendly for those who aren't particularly tech savvy, people with a disability, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people of all ages.

Mayor Oscar Yildiz explains "this website will help residents who want to make a lifestyle change, get active, get social or just get information on what is available within and around Moreland.

"We want to break down any barriers that make it difficult for people to get active and I am certain this website will go a long way to achieving that," Mayor Yildiz added.

The website also includes improved access to information about the aquatic and leisure facilities' group fitness timetables and lap lane pool availability, making it easier to fit physical activity in your day.

Activity Match
The Council also offers the Activity Match service which helps those who want to get active to link with a facilitator from one of its Active Moreland Leisure Centres at Brunswick, Coburg and Fawkner.

Activity Match can help locals access information about sport and physical activity options in Moreland, provide additional information and even meet with the participant at a facility or while undertaking an activity to introduce the person to other participants.

For those who may need extra time to feel comfortable and confident in the activity environment, a facilitator can support them to get to know the people at the activity, help to adapt or modify activities with the activity leader and help plan to participate in the activity.

For those who prefer to speak to someone face to face, the Active Moreland facilities at Brunswick, Coburg and Fawkner can help you access information about the sport and physical activity options in Moreland.
