YMCA Victoria takes over the management of Moreland Council's Leisure Facilities
Having managed Brunswick City Baths for many years, the YMCA Victoria has won the tender to oversee all six Moreland City Councils's aquatic and leisure facilities, taking over management of the centres as of Monday 10th October.
In a statement, Moreland Council explained that "the specification asked tenderers to respond to the Active Moreland challenge of creating more opportunities for more people to be more active, more often, especially those who are least likely to participate in healthy and active lifestyles.
"The benefit of having a single operator (the YMCA) managing all Council aquatic and leisure centres extends through to the whole community."
The Council statement suggested a single membership will be introduced for all six facilities, stating that "details of this new membership option will be available soon."
However, the statement added that "for now, there will be no changes to membership / aquatic education / multi-pass arrangements and we hope you continue to reap the health and wellbeing benefits of being active."
Moreland Council also highlighted that "service enhancements and new programs will begin over the next 12 months."
