In addition to its historical importance as a military training area, the Park plays a pivotal role in Seymour's open space network, offering a diverse range of recreational opportunities for both visitors and residents of Mitchell Shire.
The project was funded by $405,000 from the Victorian Government's Regional Tourism Investment Fund and $135,000 from Mitchell Shire Council, and has successfully delivered a broad range of enhancements including:
New walking trails
Picnic shelters
Park furniture
A waterside platform
Iinterpretive information and signage
Improved parking and road access

These upgrades not only enhance the overall experience for visitors but also contribute to the broader appeal of Seymour and the surrounding region.
Mitchell Shire Mayor, Louise Bannister shared “I want to commend the extraordinary efforts of the Committee of Management, who tirelessly care for this precious park and the Victorian Government for their funding support. Without them, these much-needed upgrades would not be possible.
“By providing more attractions and amenities, we aim to attract a greater number of visitors and encourage them to extend their stay in Seymour and the wider region.
“Together we have not only preserved a piece of our history but also created a space that will be cherished by generations to come.”
