Mitchell Shire Council swimming pools report 'strongest season in years'
Residents of the Mitchell Shire Council in Victoria made the most of the Seymour War Memorial Outdoor Pool during the summer months of 2012/13.
Following a report on the Mitchell Shire's outdoor pools presented at a recent council meeting, Councillor Rhonda Sanderson said it was great to see people in the community were using the facilities more regularly.
Councillor Rhonda Sanderson stated "the Seymour War Memorial Outdoor Pool achieved the highest level of visitation of our three outdoor pools largely due to school carnivals because it is the only 50 metre pool in the Shire.
"I ... am grateful to the Shire staff for their work in keeping the youngest of our outdoor pools in action and available for school carnivals.
"Tallarook had it best attendance figures in four seasons and that Broadford attendances following its reopening in December were outstanding."
Councillor Sanderson was encouraged to see that the outdoor pools had their strongest season in years and were able to remain operational for the entire 2012/13 season, saying all staff responsible were to be commended.
The Council has recently installed a new boiler to heat the pool at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre which combines effective heating with the highest efficiencies, ultra low energy consumption and the lowest environmental impact.
As a result, Mitchell Shire Council Mayor Bill Melbourne said patrons could look forward to a consistently heated pool all year round.
The Shire, loctaed 90 kilometres north of Melbourne, operates aquatic facilities at the Kilmore Leisure Centre, Seymour Sports and Aquatic Cente, Broadford Outdoor Pool, Seymour War Memorial Outdoor Pool and the Tallarook Outdoor Pool.
