A whole new light on sports field illumination

Newly established Australian company Jasstech Solutions is offering an innovative range of LED lighting solutions for buildings, streetscapes, parks, sportsgrounds and stadia.

As the exclusive Australian agent for German manufactured Hellux efficient lighting and Dutch-manufactured AREALUX and AAA-LUX, JASSTECH Solutions Director Craig Nicholls says that the products deliver a whole range of benefits for sporting clubs, players and governments wanting to deliver improved performance and reduced costs.

No one has been able to deliver the light power required while eliminating additional weights on the poles within the LED range - until now. This means that in almost every situation AAA-LUX can be installed on existing poles without the need for bigger footings.

With benefits such as reduced energy consumption, better quality of light as well as long lifespan, LED technology is becoming increasingly popular in a range of settings and Nicholls says the time is right for Australia to make use of these benefits.

In both community and elite sport settings, Nicholls sees huge potential for the AAA-LUX range of sportsfield lighting.

Nicholls explains "we can deliver a lighting solution for virtually any sportfield that complies with all the relevant Australian Standards and also improve the player comfort. That's the benefit of our patented technology, and JASSTECH can provide a complete turn-key solution using only quality poles and installation contractors to compliment our high quality luminaires."

AAA-LUX is a range of high power LED sportsfield lighting luminaires and systems, for stadiums, outdoor sportsfields and indoor use above eight metres. Launched in the Netherlands in 2009, AAA-LUX LED luminaires, and their dynamic controls, deliver to the highest standards in international sportsfield illumination and this year were put to use at the 2013 EuroHockey Championships in Belgium. Over 200 installations across Tennis, Hockey and Football fields have been completed in Europe so far, and is accelerating quickly.

With the small size of the ball used in field hockey demanding the best possible illumination, the AAA-LUX lighting exceeded the tournament organisers' expectations. The same demands apply to Cricket, Golf, Baseball, and it easily delivers for all football codes, as well as exceptional performance with HD TV broadcasting.

This lighting source allows you to physically see the ball better -it provides a light that more closely replicates real daylight – without the glare.

With lower long terms costs, Dutch sports lighting expert Henk Stolk explains that the use of LED lighting "mainly boils down to the business case."

"LED lights can burn up to 50,000 hours and once installed require barely any maintenance."

In recent months Jasstech Solutions have been presenting the case for LED sportsfield lighting to a range of potential clients, emphasising how the product will deliver 30 years of consistent light performance without costly lamp replacements. The business case also highlights:

• Potential energy savings of up to 60% through the management program
• No need to replace lamps every three years
• Phased start up at peak load time and zoning usage options such as no 15 to 30 minute lamp warm up
• Instant re-strike and no waiting in the dark if someone accidentally turns the power off
• Lower illumination requirements for junior competitions, with reduced operating costs
• Timers and switch off and on from a tablet or smartphone
• Pre program options such as dimming at the end of play/ training.

Nicholls concludes "the AAA-LUX product and its supporting technology is a true game changer for sporting clubs.

"It will cut operating costs and improve management control of their assets. Every sporting club, stadium and sporting segment in Australia will derive long term benefit and cost reductions from this exclusive technology."
