Commercial partners sought for Tobruk Memorial Pool redevelopment
With Cairns' Tobruk Memorial Pool closed since the beginning of November and work on the $21.7 million redevelopment of the facility now underway, Cairns Regional Council is seeking commercial partners to operate on the site when it reopens in 2016.
The Council is inviting businesses and organisations in complementary areas including fitness, health and wellness, rehabilitation, and sport and recreation to make submissions for the development of related infrastructure and/or the leasing of space within the redeveloped facility.
Those interested are invited to contact Cairns Regional Council Property Project Officer Kristy Nicolaou on 07 4044 3204, E: K.Nicolaou@cairns.qld.gov.au quoting Contract 2506; Request for Information - Commercial Development.
The current redevelopment of the facility, being undertaken by Adco Constructions, includes a new 50 metre pool, an artificial wave rider, a toddler waterplay pool and a new 25 metre program pool.
Amenities including the reception, kiosk, toilets and function space will be upgraded and a new grandstand seating, shade and landscaping will be added.
While the pool is closed, users have been urged to use the nearby Woree Aquatic Centre and the Marlin Coast Bicentennial Pool, or the TAS Aquatic Centre.
