A-League’s Macarthur FC and NRL’s Rabbitohs reveal ticketing partnership

A-League club Macarthur FC and the NRL’s South Sydney Rabbitohs are reported to have agreed a partnership that will give fans of both Sydney-based teams access to free match tickets and discounted memberships.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, members from the rugby league and football clubs will receive reciprocal access for selected matches, with each gaining free passes to one game.

Souths members will get free entry for Macarthur’s home match against Adelaide United on 12th February, while the new A-League team’s fans will be able to enter the Rabbitohs’ match against North Queensland at Stadium Australia in July at no charge.

The wide-ranging deal will also see them both enter the market for joint sponsorship opportunities and other potential tie-ups.

Introducing the partnership, Souths Chief Executive Blake Solly, told the SMH “there really are endless opportunities for both clubs, and potential members and corporate partners, to leverage this relationship and we’re all excited to see where we can take it.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Gino (Marra, Macarthur Chairman) and his team on this partnership, we wish the Bulls the best for the season and we’re looking forward to growing our base in south-west Sydney to greater scale over the coming years.”

Marra referred to the Rabbitohs as “a great brand, a phenomenal club - the oldest club in the NRL” adding “and we’re the newest club in the A-League.

“It’s different markets, we don’t compete for the same customer, we’ll be complementary to each other.”

Macarthur FC, which joined the A-League this year as part of its expansion process, has had crowds this season of 4,538 and 2,609 in their first two games at the 20,000-capacity Campbelltown Stadium.
