Council seeks naming rights sponsor for Campbelltown Sports Stadium

Campbelltown Council is inviting potential partners to express their interest in the naming rights for the Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Originally known as Orana Park when it was constructed nearly 60 years ago, the south western Sydney venue is one of three home grounds for the Wests Tigers NRL team and will be the primary home ground for the newly formed Macarthur FC Bulls A-League Team from 2020.

Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic says that in an ideal world he would love to see a local company name adorn the venue, telling the South West Voice “we can only speculate at this stage because we don’t know who will express an interest in the making rights.

“We will wait to see the report and of course if some local companies are in the mix we would love to think one of them ends up with the naming rights to our wonderful stadium.”

Mayor Brticevic said the Council had included some rules with the expressions of interest bids, making it clear that some industries, such as tobacco, were not welcome to have their names up at the venue, stating “we won’t accept any liquor or gambling businesses as the name.”

He also hoped that consideration be given, if commercially possible, to incorporating ‘Campbelltown’ in any new name for the stadium, if only for a period of adjustment as people became familiar with the new name.

Campbelltown Council Director of City Lifestyles Jenny Franke said a corporate sponsor could increase the district's ability to lure in big events.

Franke advised “the purpose of a sponsorship deal is to partner with a suitable corporate sponsor to maximise opportunities to promote the stadium and attract events.

"(This would) optimise the use of the stadium, bringing economic benefit to the region and offset the cost of the stadium through the revenue that can be realised by this community asset.

Council staff will present a report to Councillors for consideration after expressions of interest close.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted to the Council by Tuesday 6th August.
