311 Victorian clubs receive funding to keep sport accessible

311 local sports clubs will take the field in new kits after the announcement of $303,262 worth of funding across Victoria through the Sporting Uniform Grants Program.

Commenting on the importance of keeping sport cost-accessible, Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation Damian Drum explained “a sporting uniform is symbolic in tying a sporting club together and of course essential to getting out there and competing.

“The Victorian ... Government is proud to be supporting a program that eases the cost pressures for 311 local sporting clubs this year by providing funding for senior and junior team uniforms.”

Minister Drum praised the role rural sporting clubs play in their communities, underlined by the fact that 176 of the recipient clubs in the Sporting Uniform Grants Program are in rural and regional areas.

He added “speaking to the local football and netball clubs today it’s evident that the clubs play a pivotal role in rural and regional Victorian communities so anything we can do to assist these clubs goes a long way to building a better regional Victoria.”
