More than 300,000 jabs administered at Qudos Bank Arena vaccination centre
Qudos Bank Arena’s support of NSW Health’s COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Western Sydney has seen the venue’s team of dedicated staff play a critical role, with the quarter of a million milestone of administered vaccinations reached on Monday 20th September and, as of today, more than 300,000 jabs being delivered.
This has include 33 fully vaccinated ASM Global fulltime and 249 casual team members who work at the venue, all of whom have rallied behind the opportunity to apply their service skills at what is NSW’s largest vaccination site.
NSW Health selected Qudos Bank Arena for this unique operation in part due to the facilities available, but more so due to the advanced experience and professional skills of the ASM Global staff to meet the brief of delivering positive experiences for all those who visit the Arena to get vaccinated.
ASM Global team members at Qudos Bank Arena responded to the challenge of operating a seven-day a week medical clinic by proactively contributing to essential functions of ushering, marshalling, welcoming agents, PPE coaching, administration, crowd monitoring and the provision of vaccine response observation to the hundreds of thousands of citizens that have been vaccinated at the Arena since commencement of operations.
ASM Global jumped at the chance to meaningfully contribute to an initiative that will help to combat the pandemic, with strong support from venue owner, TEG. Staff from sister venue, International Convention Centre Sydney, VenuesLive (operator of Stadium Australia and CommBank Stadium) and various key service providers associated with the Arena were also provided the opportunity to join the delivery of this enormous vaccination program - providing 56, 19 and 61 casual staff respectively, to form part of the 400 strong delivery team that has been assembled to assist the (up to) 550 NSW Health staff that are on site each day.
Advising that opening a vaccination centre of this scale was an unprecedented undertaking, Qudos Bank Arena General Manager, Steve Hevern stated “as the venue operator facilitating this mass vaccination centre, it gives us great pride to host the public health team administering the vaccination program.
“Our team has shown an exceptional level of professionalism, agility and adaptability to make this all possible under extreme time pressures, and we are delighted to welcome personnel from affiliated venues and partners alike to support our team on the ground. The Qudos Bank Arena NSW Health Vaccination Centre is leading the way in supporting the opening up of live entertainment back to NSW and that is what we are most excited about.”
From strongly advocating for the live entertainment industry, to the provision of unwavering support, expertise and resources, Qudos Bank Arena has played a significant role in assisting the recovery efforts of the NSW Government and is honoured to be expressively involved in the solution to the COVID-19 pandemic.
