2022 International Sport Summit to address sport inclusivity

Scheduled to be held in Brisbane on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November, the 2022 International Sport Summit - Included through Sport, will bring together a group of influential sports leaders will address inclusivity issues in the decade towards the 2032 Olympics.

With key themes of the ‘green and gold runway’, United Nations Sport for Development Goals and women in sport leadership, headline speakers at the Summit include President of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee Andrew Liveris; Australian Sports Commission Chief Executive, Kieren Perkins and Federal, Minister for Aged Care Minister for Sport, Anika Wells.

Liveris, will start proceedings as the Guest Speaker at a VIP Breakfast before the Summit, sharing his insights and vision for the home Olympics and Paralympics while the Summit will be moderated by sports presenter and Chair of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Sport Diplomacy Advisory Council Stephanie Brantz.

It will be officially opened with an address from Minister Wells who, along with Perkins, will share with attendees the recently released national strategic plan and the importance of inclusion in the world of sport.

The remaining summit will include a myriad of international and sport leaders including:

• International Paralympic Committee Vice President, Duane Kale PLY, (New Zealand)
• UNESCO Chair Project Manager, Dr Catherine Carty (Ireland) 
• Oceania Paralympic Committee President, Paul Bird OAM 
• International Paralympic Committee Governing Board member, Robyn Smith OAM 
• Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Executive Director, Strategy and Coordination, Dr Bridie O’Donnell 
• Founder of Frost Included - Steven Frost (UK) 
• FIBA Women’s World Cup 2022, Chief Executive, Melissa King
• Oceania National Olympic Committees Vice-President, Baklai Temengil (Palau) 

Leading into Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022, the Summit being held at the Brisbane City Hall.

Sport Inclusion Australia is a national sporting organisation established in 1986 to assist the inclusion of people with an intellectual impairment into the mainstream community using sport as the medium.
