Zoggs partners with ABC animation series Kangaroo Beach to promote products and water safety

Leading swimming products retailer Zoggs has announced a partnership with the new ABC animation series Kangaroo Beach to promote water safety.

Launched in January, the child-oriented 26-part animated series on ABC Kids features the escapades of ‘joey Pounce’, a wannabe-hero lifeguard; ‘platypus Gemma’, a mini-marine biologist; ‘wombat Neville’, an expert sandcastle digger and ‘koala Frizzy’ a singing and dancing arboreal herbivorous marsupial as they train as junior cadets with their lifeguard heroes and keep the water safe at Kangaroo Beach.

Under the guidance of grown up lifeguards Bondi, ‘Sandy’ (voiced by Kitty Flanagan) and ‘Big Trev’, the series sees them gain imperative water safety skills that help keep themselves and other beachgoers safe.

Already massively popular on ABC Kids, the show is seen as having the potential to follow in the wake of Bananas in Pyjamas, Bluey and Bondi Rescue, as an international success.

In its aim to portray surf and water safety as accurately as possible, behind the scenes, veteran Bondi Rescue lifeguard Bruce ‘Hoppo’ Hopkins and Manly surf lifesaving legend Craig Riddington are consultants on the program.

With the show quickly having become a hit with its young audience and families - becoming the second highest ranking program (for both childrens and adult series) on ABC iView catch up, amassing over 7.5 million unique program plays in just a few weeks, Zoggs has partnered with Kangaroo Beach.

Zoggs Oceania Director, Rob Davies explains “for a series that is so Australian and focused on learning water safety through fun and friendship, Zoggs is the perfect partner for Kangaroo Beach.

“We have integrated the Kangaroo Beach license onto the best-selling Zoggs learn to swim products and goggles so I am very confident these products will be very successful.”

The link with Kangaroo Beach means Zoggs will not be running the licence it has with Warner Bros. moving forward, with Davies noting “we are just focussing on the Kangaroo Beach license as we believe this is a much better fit to our brand and the products we offer.”

Zoggs' already extensive range of Kangaroo Beach products include branded goggles, water wing vests, back floats, arm bands, swim rings, swim caps, kick boads and swim bags.

The Kangaroo Beach series will be distributed globally by Sonar Entertainment.

With offices around the world, Sonar Entertainment’s distribution team is linguistically and culturally integrated directly into more than 165 territories, delivering an unparalleled customised level of service worldwide.

Their comprehensive knowledge of all rights and all established and emerging content platforms, enables the team to go beyond traditional sales to actively seek out strategic alliances and build local network and producer collaborations.
