Zip line attraction to traverse monster crocodile
Cairns tourism entrepreneurs Charles and Philippa Woodward have revealed details of a $1 million flying fox attraction.
The Cairns venture, to be located in the Cairns Wildlife Dome on top of the Reef Hotel Casino, will include challenge rope courses, flying fox/zip lines, internal and external dome walks.
To be named the Cairns ZOOm, the flying fox/zip line will have an added thrill, as it will travel over a four-metre, 700 kilogram crocodile waiting. The Woodwards' believe it will rival Darwin's Crocosaurus Cove - where visitors swim with crocodiles in a glass cage.
The Cairns Post quoted Charles Woodward as saying the crocodile, named Goliath, would be "one of the exciting aspects of the attraction."
However, Woodward was careful to stress that the project would meet "the highest safety and security standards" and would protect the welfare of its animals and birds, including Goliath. No-one could fall in to Goliath's pen, he insisted, and neither could the monster croc rear up to devour any guests zipping overhead.
