Zap Fitness launches on national stage with Hobart Hurricanes sponsorship

Tasmanian-based 24-hour gym chain Zap Fitness is promoting its brand nationally having agreed a one-year deal as principal partner the Big Bash League’s Hobart Hurricanes.

Cricket Tasmania Marketing and Commercial General Manager Michael Roberts admitted there had been some difficulty securing a partner in recent years but is absolutely thrilled that a great Tasmanian company has come on board for Big Bash League (BBL)04.

Roberts stated “there is no doubt that the success of the Hobart Hurricanes on the world stage, as well as the significant attendances and broadcast numbers that the Big Bash League is now achieving has assisted us.

“The Zap brand is a really great fit for the Hurricanes and like us is achieving significant wins on the mainland.”

Zap opened their first gym at Rosny close to Blundstone Arena in 2008, and now has 30 gyms across Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia. In Tasmania, the gym chain now has over 20,000 members.

Zap founder and Chairman Bob Cheek said the Zap team are thrilled to partner with the Hobart Hurricanes, stating “we're both Tasmanian juggernauts ready to take on the rest of the country and proving a Tasmanian product can take on the rest of Australia and win.

“The Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian cricket in general sit nicely with our philosophy.

"We believe in helping our Tasmanian members live happier, healthier and more exciting lives, and the Big Bash League personifies our beliefs.

"We wanted to create a unique Tasmanian brand that was low-cost, operated 24 hours, no lock-in contracts, with one key fitting all our clubs around Tasmania so that there's no excuse for not keeping fit. Now that we've accomplished that we want to partner with other exciting Tasmanian brands to help them on the road to success.”

Zap Fitness join Blundstone and Cricket 4 Life as major partners of the Hurricanes for BBL04, with their logos all appearing on the Hurricane’s playing apparel.
