YMCA Australia announces Chris Lewis as its new President
YMCA Australia has announced that Chris Lewis, a former partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), will be its new President.
Having served as YMCA’s National Treasurer for the past two years, Lewis was confirmed in the role at the Annual General Meeting of the YMCAs of Australia in Adelaide last Friday.
Changes in the YMCA’s governance will see outgoing National President Andrew Smith, who has been in the role for two and a half years, remain on the Board for the next 12 months to support Lweis, the Board and the transition.
Also departing the National Board are Maree Davidson, Robert Prime, Bruce Harris and Daniel Cheverton, with new members Catherine Follett from YMCA INEA, Ross Peddleston from YMCA Bundaberg and Marg Lennon from YMCA NSW, joining.
Peter Malone remains as Vice President, and Catharine Payze is now Treasurer of the YMCA National board.
Commenting on his news role, Lewis stated “I am looking forward to working with our Board and continuing to serve all of our Member Associations across Australia, building on the leadership demonstrated by Andrew and the team.
“It is an important time of change and transition for the YMCA Movement in Australia, as we work to sharpen our focus towards understanding how we can build our relevance to the people we serve and enhance our capacity to understand and support 'the power of inspired young people'."
YMCA is still to appoint a permanent Chief Executive since the departure of Ron Mell in May.
