WTTC recognises Australia’s COVID Clean Practicing Business Program
The Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC) has announced its COVID Clean Practicing Business Program has been recognised through the World Tourism and Travel Council’s (WTTC) Safe Travels program.
Developed through ATIC’s Quality Tourism Framework, almost 1,000 businesses are now recognised as COVID Clean businesses under the national program. This new global recognition through WTTC's Safe Travels program will highlight these operators and their COVIDSafe efforts to an international market.
WTTC has designed the Safe Travels stamp to allow travellers to recognise companies around the world that have adopted standardised global health and hygiene protocols – so consumers can experience ‘safe travels’.
ATIC Executive Director, Simon Westaway said the WTTC Safe Travel stamp was recognition that ATIC’s COVID Clean Program reflected an important need in the international visitor market.
Westaway notes “the global stamp can underpin confidence for returning travellers, initially interstate holiday activity before our international border tries to steadily reopen.
“By global standards Australia is an emerging COVID Clean destination, but the industry believes we must powerfully signal that Safe Travels be effectively messaged to returning overseas markets.
“This includes travel wholesalers selling Australia and to those seeking safe travels down under.”
The WTTC Safe Travels stamp is provided upon completion of the COVID Clean Practicing Business module to display alongside the COVID Clean logo.
