Workforce development conference to bring industry and training providers together in Brisbane

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2012, the 2013 Queensland Fitness, Sport and Recreation Workforce Development Conference will be bringing industry and training providers together to explore the theme: 'A resilient and adaptable organisational culture the key to managing change.'

Dr Karen Becker of the QUT Business School, an expert in organisational change, will provide the principal address at the conference sharing effective strategies that delegates can apply within their own organisation to address current workforce development challenges.

The only workforce development conference for the fitness, sport and recreation industry in Queensland, the conference promises to provide a lively and informative program of workshops and presentations.

Organised by the Skills Alliance, the workforce development and advisory body for the fitness, sport and recreation industry in Queensland, the conference is being held on Wednesday 11th September 2013 at The Pavilion Function & Conference Centre in the Brisbane suburb of Breakfast Creek.

In response to feedback from 2012 conference delegates, the 2013 program will highlight best-practice case studies that are relevant to all sectors of our industry. Representatives of clubs, RTOs and fitness organisations will speak about their management practices and recent challenges they have overcome.

The conference will be twitter friendly participants will be encouraged the share the day's activities and key messages via social media.

In addition, every delegate will be issued with a wireless Keepad clicker so that we can collect live input from delegates throughout the day via multiple-choice survey questions. Feedback from 2012 delegates indicated they appreciated this interactive element on the day.

Collective responses to some questions will be projected on screen at the conference so delegates can get a 'real-time' picture of attitudes in the room.

Individuals will not be identified, but we will be able to 'slice-and-dice' the data by sector to explore the feedback.
